Replacing a Korean BBQ Table Grill: What to Check Before Ordering

Before ordering a replacement Korean BBQ table grill, match the existing model, fuel, tabletop opening, support and ventilation arrangement to the proposed unit. Also confirm whether you need a cooking plate, the roaster itself or a complete table assembly. A matching diameter alone does not establish that a replacement will fit.
Use HiLEE's commercial Korean BBQ grills to identify candidate models. The steps below help restaurant operators prepare a replacement inquiry with enough detail to compare equipment and installation scope.
1. Identify what you are replacing
The word “grill” can mean the removable cooking surface or the appliance beneath it. State which one you need when requesting a quote.
- Cooking plate or grate: the surface that holds the food. Record both its part number and the roaster model.
- Roaster or grill insert: the appliance installed at the table. Ask for its installation drawing and a written list of included parts.
- Table assembly: the tabletop, supporting frame and cooking equipment. List the pieces you intend to retain.
For example, the BM-320G commercial gas grill listing says the cooking grill is sold separately. An order for the roaster should therefore identify the required cooking surface as a separate line item.
If you only need a plate, start with the grill plate selection guide. It covers materials and care questions; this guide focuses on replacing the appliance in an existing table.
2. Photograph the model label and existing installation
Build the inquiry around the equipment already in your restaurant. Photograph its manufacturer label, full model number and serial number if readable. Include any fuel or rating information shown on the label.
Add an overall table photo, a view of the cooking surface and photos of accessible areas beneath the table. Show the controls, support arrangement, grease collection and visible ventilation connections. Have your installer collect details that require moving or disconnecting the appliance.
For several tables, give each one an identifier. Group matching units together and flag any different models or table openings. Do not assume that every station uses the same equipment because the dining surfaces look alike.
Describe why you are replacing the unit: a damaged component, a service technician's diagnosis, unavailable parts or a planned equipment change. If the problem has not been diagnosed, say so. That gives the supplier a clearer question than “Which grill should I buy?”
3. Separate the tabletop cutout from the grill dimensions
Ask for a dimensioned installation drawing for the exact replacement model. Compare it with measurements of the existing table before authorizing fabrication or ordering multiple units.
Record these details separately:
- Tabletop opening: diameter for a round opening, or length, width and corner shape for a rectangular one.
- Supporting edge: how the existing unit rests on or attaches to the table.
- Tabletop thickness and material.
- Available depth below the tabletop, including obstructions from the base or frame.
- Space and access for controls, connections, grease collection and removal for service.
Keep the measurement units visible on your notes and photos. Ask the supplier to identify which dimensions describe the appliance body, its upper rim and the required cutout.
The BM-320G product page lists a 390 mm diameter and a 345 mm grilling surface. Those are different dimensions; neither should be treated as an approved tabletop cutting template. Request the current installation drawing for the unit being supplied.
If the proposed grill needs a different opening or support, compare the table work with the options in HiLEE's Korean BBQ table range. Resolve that scope before ordering the appliance.
4. Confirm the fuel and installation configuration
Include the existing fuel supply and the replacement model's specified fuel in the inquiry. Ask the installer to compare the appliance documentation with the available connection and supply requirements.
The BM-320GB butane gas roaster is identified in HiLEE's catalog as a commercial butane model. Its similar name to the BM-320G does not establish that the two can replace each other in an existing table.
If the proposal changes fuel, connections or the way the grill is mounted, ask for the supported configuration in writing. Include any installation work in the quote rather than treating it as an incidental part of delivery.
5. Check which plates and accessories can stay
Make a separate list of the cooking surfaces and accessories you want to reuse. Send their model numbers and photos alongside the appliance information.
HiLEE's BM-320-HSSG stainless steel grill plate is listed as compatible with the BM-320G and BM-320GB round roasters. That is a specific catalog pairing. It does not establish compatibility with another brand or a different roaster.
Ask the quote to identify the exact plate, support parts and grease-collection components supplied with the replacement. Confirm the current part identifiers and quantities, including any spare plates needed for service.
6. Include ventilation and model documents in the review
Send the proposed appliance information to the people responsible for the restaurant's ventilation and installation. Ask them to confirm whether the existing arrangement can serve the replacement and identify any work needed before purchase.
UL Solutions' commercial cooking diagram identifies cooking equipment, hoods, grease filters, ducts and fire-extinguishing systems as separate categories. Use it as a reference when assembling the equipment documents, not as a design for your restaurant. HiLEE's ventilation planning guide explains the site information to collect.
For certification claims, request the manufacturer, exact model and listing record. Intertek's ETL guidance explains how to check listed products by manufacturer, model or standard. It also notes that significant product changes can require certification review. Ask whether any proposed modification is covered before accepting it as part of the replacement.
7. Send a complete replacement inquiry
Use this short worksheet when contacting a supplier:
- Restaurant location and table identifiers.
- Existing manufacturer, model, serial number and fuel.
- Part or complete appliance needed, quantity and reason for replacement.
- Photos of labels, table, cooking surface and accessible connections.
- Measured opening, tabletop thickness, support and space below.
- Parts you want to reuse and candidate replacement models.
- Installer's questions, ventilation information and available drawings.
- Requested delivery date and available installation window.
Ask for an itemized quote covering equipment, accessories, freight, tax and installation responsibilities. Confirm current availability, return conditions and who will check the delivered model before installation. Schedule table downtime after the equipment and installation arrangements are confirmed.
Replacement questions
Can I keep my existing Korean BBQ table?
Possibly. Have the supplier and installer compare the replacement drawing with the actual opening, support, depth and access. Include any required tabletop or frame changes in the decision.
Does a same-size cooking plate mean the entire grill will fit?
No. Plate compatibility and appliance installation are separate checks. Confirm the plate pairing, then compare the complete appliance with the table and its connections.
What if I cannot read the old model number?
Send clear photos of the appliance, label area, controls and cooking surface. Include measurements and any original invoices or manuals. Ask the supplier what else is needed to identify it before choosing a replacement.
Request a replacement grill quote
Contact HiLEE about your replacement grill with the model information, photos and measurements above. Ask the quote to name the proposed unit, compatible cooking surface, included components and remaining installation questions so you can review the full order before purchasing.
